Back To The Future – Theatrical Production at Saenger Theatre

Set in two iconic decades of the 1900s, precisely in the 50s and 80s, The musical, Back To The Future, features the same narrative from the original 1980s movie and was also brought to life by the previous picture's creators, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The high-activity and vividly bright play tells the narrative of Marty McFly, an easygoing high school kid.

The story starts as our main character goes through a regular routine in a young man's life, enjoying his hobbies (specifically in his band) and spending time with the McFly family, all while still quite nosy of everything he encounters. His inquisitive spirit ends up as Marty's very own burden, as upon connecting with Doc Brown on a fateful night, Brown proclaims that his genius has enabled him to make the transtemporal device (which is actually the DeLorean) function. An unusual hazard that takes place on that night pressures Marty McFly to accidentally turn on the device, startling Marty and moving him away in time to 1955. Originally disoriented with what just happened to him, Marty McFly eventually surmises that to correct his accident and secure his future, he should also correct history, and the younger versions of the people he meets, back to what actually happened.

With similar creatives from the film it was adapted from, each set of the legendary show acts as a homage to the set designs from the movie, including the McFly's house, Hill Valley High School, Doc's lab, and numerous locales in the Hill Valley neighborhood. Both the stage and costume creations also accurately depict the two different time periods. The musical's transfer to the theater platform gave another avenue for audiences to see one of the unrivaled franchises that has been produced, while implementing tweaks and innovations only possible in a live theater production.

Though the show carries its audiences on a nostalgic trip back to 1955 and 1985 respectively, the theater for this play is everything but dated.
