After having a talk with a friend, And getting the response “she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought of "Kimberly Akimbo" for the first time.
Kimberly Akimbo is a show that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, widely acknowledged for his potential for uniting humor and cruel reality.
The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly was born with a disorder that made her 4.5x more than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and teen years simulataniously.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s irresponsibility, which puts her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, isolation, and the need for belongingness.
