The Six story

"Six" is the tale of the lives of the wives of King Henry the 8th, who was a controversial king of England in the 1500s. During his 4 decades of rule, he married six times. His efforts to leave his first marriage led to the separation of the Church of England. Many people probably are familiar with the story of Henry VIII. However, you may not know the story of his six wives.

This musical delves into the story of the six queens as they tell their individual experiences with Henry VIII. The queens compete for who had the worst experience in being married to the king. The queens discuss divorce, rejections, infidelity, and even beheadings in a way that makes you laugh while also touching your soul. They even place a modern twist on the story by incorporating a dating app in a hilarious way.

Eventually, they realize that fighting over who had the toughest experience with Henry VIII is pointless. They eventually decide to think about how Henry VIII took their individuality. They’re not just the six wives of Henry VIII - they have their own strengths that deserve celebrating. The ex-wives eventually come together to write new endings to their stories. They achieve their “happily ever afters” that Henry VIII denied them by picturing what their lives would’ve been like without meeting Henry VIII.
